About Mr. Tim

Hello everyone! My name is Mr. Tim, and I am so glad you are here!

How I Got Into Education

Throughout my childhood and academic career, I was always fascinated with the teaching profession. I remember constantly thinking about what being a teacher would be like, how to set up a classroom, what activities would be fun and engaging for students, and so forth.

Later on in high school, I decided that I wanted to have a career with two of my passions, math and science. Thus, I initially went to college for engineering. While I loved the idea of engineering, during the first few semesters I realized it was not the environment I wanted to be in. Due to this realization, I had to rethink what I wanted to do.

I had worked with daycares and afterschool programs during middle school and high school, so education seemed like the best fit moving forward.

My Teaching Journey

Once I started my education program at my university, I fell in love with teaching. After four years, three practicums, and a student teaching placement in a Title 1 school, I knew this was the perfect fit for me.

After I graduated from university in December of 2019 with a focus in math and science, I contacted the district I grew up in to see if there were any openings. After a few days, I was offered a long-term substitute position in 8th grade math at a local middle school. A month and a half later, the school, like many others, went virtual due to the global events.

Fall of 2020 I was offered an 8th grade science position at the same middle school full time. Ever since then, I have loved educating students, challenging their understanding of our world, and keeping them engaged with creative activities.

It has been a transition period going from graduating in December 2019, to having to adapt to teaching virtually, to then teaching in a hybrid model, and finally teaching in the typical, in person setting. However, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why I Started Creating Resources

I found early on in teaching that there were not many provided resources for me to use in my science classroom. Additionally, it was challenging to find online resources to use during virtual instruction. Once I had created my products, I discovered TPT and learned that there were a lot of other teachers as well looking for resources to use in their classrooms.
